멸종; 세인트헬레나 섬의 아화석 뼈로만 알려져 있습니다. 뻘어즈슴새보다 작으며, 섬에 인간이 정착한 직후 도입된 포식자로 인해 멸종했을 가능성이 높습니다. 인간 도착으로 대부분 멸종된 세인트헬레나 고유 바닷새 군집의 일원입니다.

43 cm, wingspan 104 cm. Large; dark brown above with pale belly and dusky breast-band creating hooded appearance. Breeds Tristan da Cunha and Gough Island; ranges into south Atlantic and Indian Ocean. Endangered; threatened by introduced predators and longline fisheries.
