대형 칠면조로 체장 90–120cm이며, 수컷은 매혹적인 청록색과 금색 눈점이 있는 날개 깃털, 파란색과 붉은 색의 날개 달린 머리를 갖는다. 멕시코 유카탄 반도, 벨리즈, 과테말라의 열대 숲에 서식하는 고유종이다. 씨앗, 과실류, 곤충을 먹는다. 취약한 상태이다.
