대형 쏙독새류(28~30cm)로, 과 중 가장 크다. 해발 1,500~3,400m의 뉴기니 산악 삼림에 서식한다. 갈색 깃털에 가는 가로줄 무늬가 있다. 야행성 곤충식성이다.
Karimui Owlet-nightjar
파푸아뉴기니의 카리무이 분지 지역에만 서식하는 중형 쏙독새류. 21세기 초 수집된 표본으로 기재되어 아직 잘 알려져 있지 않다.
