소형 벌새로 체장 약 11cm이며, 수컷은 광택 있는 초록 몸통에 에메랄드색 목과 포크 모양 꽁지를 갖는다. 에콰도르와 콜롬비아 남부 고지대 관목지에 서식한다. 꽃의 꿀을 빨아 먹는다. 관심 필요 종이다.

Nectarivore of Ecuadorian and Colombian montane shrubs; visits Brachyotum and Ericaceae. Gleans tiny insects from foliage.
