비행 시 특유의 엷은 청회색 날개 반점이 보이는 중형 회갈색 기러기 유사 오리. 에티오피아 고원 고유종. 산악 하천 인근 짧은 풀밭에서 풀을 뜯는다. 단혼성; 쌍은 영구적이다. 농업 집약화와 과도한 방목으로 위협받는다.
