소말리아, 에티오피아, 케냐의 건조한 덤불과 반건조 관목지대에 사는 소형 쏙독새(20-22 cm). 창백한 회갈색 깃털을 가진다. 야행성 곤충 포식자다. 미국 탐험가 도날드슨 스미스의 이름을 따서 명명되었으며, 야생에서 연구가 부족하다.
