소개
인도네시아 말루쿠 제도에 고유하게 서식하는 중형 쏙독새류(25~29cm). 짙은 갈색 깃털과 이마에 강모가 발달해 있다. 야행성이며 날아다니는 곤충을 잡아먹는다.

Large; dark sooty-brown upperparts with grey-buff barring; underparts pale buff heavily barred dark brown; very dark facial markings; North Moluccan endemic and one of the largest owlet-nightjars with uniformly dark coloration.
Habitat & Range

Endemic to the northern Moluccas of Indonesia. Resident in lowland and hill forest on Halmahera and adjacent islands.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly nocturnal; takes beetles, moths, and flying termites in sallying flight from a perch near tree hollows.
