Least Grebe (Tachybaptus dominicus) is the smallest New World grebe at 21–27 cm. Dark grey overall in breeding plumage with yellow eye, blackish cap, and short bill. Inhabits small freshwater ponds, ditches, and marshes from the southern USA through Central and South America to northern Argentina. Feeds on small fish and aquatic invertebrates.

アフリカ・ヨーロッパからアジアにかけての池・河川に広く分布する最小のカイツブリ（体長23〜29cm）。繁殖期の赤褐色の首と黄色い嘴基部が特徴的。Tachybaptus ruficollis（カイツブリ）は日本で最もよく見られるカイツブリで、澄んだ水の池や川に生息し、素早く潜水して魚を捕まえる。Podicipedidae科。
