シャフトヘミプス（Hemipus picatus）はインドから東南アジアにかけての低地・丘陵林に生息する小型の鳥（体長12〜14 cm）。黒と白のコントラストが鮮明な羽衣。混群に加わり飛翔昆虫を空中で捕らえる。コウライウグイスの仲間と誤って分類されていたが、現在はサンショウクイに近縁と考えられる。
Archbold's Newtonia
Archbold's Newtonia is a small vangid from southwestern Madagascar, weighing about 8 grams with a wingspan of just 9 cm. It inhabits the spiny forest thicket of the arid southern region, foraging actively for insects in the low thorny vegetation. This tiny bird is one of several Newtonia species endemic to Madagascar's unique dry forests.
