北アフリカとアラビア半島の乾燥した草地や半砂漠に生息する非常に大型のノガン(体長最大90cm、体重7〜15kg)。砂褐色の羽毛と特徴的な黒い頭冠を持つ。乾燥した開けた生息地に住む雑食者。狩猟と生息地喪失により準絶滅危惧に分類。
Hartlaub's Bustard
A medium-sized bustard (55-60 cm) found in dry grasslands of the Horn of Africa from Ethiopia to Tanzania. Males have a black belly and inflatable throat pouch. Closely related to Black-bellied Bustard. Named after the German ornithologist Gustav Hartlaub.
