A large, impressive Phasianidae spurfowl (~1.12 kg) endemic to the bamboo zone and montane forest edges of Kenya's Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range above 2,500 m. Brown with bold white streaking; red orbital skin. Territorial; forages on roots, seeds, and invertebrates. Least Concern in protected montane forests.
