Widespread across India, Sri Lanka, China, and South-East Asia. Inhabits open grassland, scrub, and agricultural land. Polyandrous; distinctive purring call of female.

Luzon Buttonquail

Luzon Buttonquail (Turnix worcesteri) is a small buttonquail endemic to Luzon, Philippines. Sandy-buff above with dark markings; limited information due to rarity. Inhabits open grassland and scrub habitats on Luzon. Rarely recorded; considered Data Deficient by IUCN due to very few known specimens and sightings.
