Madagascar Buttonquail (Turnix nigricollis) is a small 14–15 cm buttonquail endemic to Madagascar. Pale sandy-brown above with dark streaking; female has black-spotted breast. Inhabits open dry grassland, scrub, and degraded savanna across western and southern Madagascar. Locally common. Feeds on seeds and small invertebrates.
