The Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) is the most widespread member of the genus Plegadis and one of the most cosmopolitan ibises in the world. Adults in breeding plumage display rich chestnut-brown and purplish-maroon tones on the head, neck, and underparts, with wings and upperparts exhibiting an iridescent green and purple gloss that gives the species its name.
