Restricted to the island of Sao Tome in the Gulf of Guinea, the Sao Tome Olive-pigeon (Columba thomensis) is a large columbid of some 40-45 cm, dark olive to purplish-grey with an iridescent neck, spotted wing coverts and conspicuous yellow orbital skin and bill. It keeps to dense forest and feeds on fruit. Recorded birds average about 467 g with a wingspan near 47 cm.
