Hormigueros (antbirds); unas 240 especies de insectívoros de tamaño pequeño a mediano en el trópico de Centroamérica y Sudamérica. Familia diversa de aves del sotobosque y del suelo forestal, muchas de las cuales siguen a las hormigas guerreras para capturar insectos que huyen. Los machos suelen tener patrones llamativos; las hembras son pardas y crípticas. Componente clave del bosque neotropical.
