Colombian Grebe
Colombian Grebe (Podiceps andinus) is an extinct small to medium grebe formerly endemic to Lake Tota in the eastern Andes of Colombia at 3,000 m. Related to Black-necked Grebe; had chestnut neck and facial tufts. Declared extinct in 1977 following drainage of much of Lake Tota, hunting, and pesticide use.

White-tufted Grebe (Rollandia rolland) is a small 22–27 cm grebe of southern South America, from Peru and Bolivia south to Tierra del Fuego. Dark brown with distinctive white facial tufts extending from cheeks; chestnut neck sides. Inhabits freshwater lakes, bogs, and slow rivers. Partially migratory; nomadic in austral winter.
