Pied Plover
El avefría pía es un avefría de 22-24 cm, un lapwing sudamericano distintivo con plumaje negro y blanco llamativo, cara roja y máscara negra. Tiene un espolón alar amarillo. Habita en llanuras fluviales, sabanas y campos agrícolas del noreste de América del Sur, principalmente en la cuenca del Orinoco y la Guayana. Se alimenta de insectos y pequeños invertebrados en el suelo. Forma parejas estables durante la temporada de cría y cuida con vigor su territorio.

Restricted to high-altitude moorland and montane grassland above 1,800 m in Ethiopia. Insectivorous. Sedentary; rare and little-studied. Declining due to overgrazing and agricultural encroachment.
