About These Birds

Purple-throated Sunangel

El solángel violáceo es un colibrí pequeño de los bosques nublados andinos del sur de Ecuador y el norte de Perú. El macho tiene partes superiores verde brillante y un gorjal violáceo-púrpura iridiscente llamativo. Se alimenta del néctar de flores en los bosques nublados andinos. La hembra es más apagada. Esta especie se considera de distribución restringida y puede verse afectada por la pérdida de bosque nublado.

Rufous-booted Racket-tail

A small hummingbird (8-10 cm plus tail rackets) found in Andean cloud forests of southeastern Peru and Bolivia at 1,200-2,200 m. Males have rufous leg puffs instead of white. Recently split from Booted Racket-tail. Nectarivore of montane forest undergrowth.
