Medium, 25–30 cm, ground pigeon with brown upperparts, white-spotted breast, and a bare red-and-yellow facial mask. Inhabits open woodland, grassland, and rocky gorges in central and eastern Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. Granivore of seeds and small grains on the ground. Near Threatened due to altered fire regimes and habitat change.

La paloma-halcón de las Sangihe es una paloma endémica de las Islas Sangihe en Indonesia. Es la menos conocida de las palomas-halcón del género Gymnophaps. Tiene plumaje oscuro similar al de otras especies del grupo. Habita en los bosques remanentes de las islas volcánicas de Sangihe. Está amenazada por la severa deforestación y la fragmentación del hábitat en estas pequeñas islas.
