Brood parasite targeting babblers. Migratory in part of its range. Insectivore. Known as 'Pied Crested Cuckoo'; its monsoon-season arrival in South Asia is celebrated.

Habita en bosques de Malasia, Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Borneo) y Tailandia. Anuncia su presencia con un llamativo silbido descendente repetitivo. Especie de distribución relativamente restringida en el sureste asiático insular. Poco conocido en cuanto a sus hospedadores preferidos y biología reproductiva.
