About These Birds

White-chinned Sapphire

Colibrí añil (Chlorestes cyanus), 8–9 cm. Macho con plumaje azul-cian brillante en la garganta y pecho; partes superiores verde metálico. Habita en selvas húmedas y bordes del noroeste de América del Sur (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, norte de Brasil). Se alimenta de néctar e insectos pequeños.

Rufous-booted Racket-tail

A small hummingbird (8-10 cm plus tail rackets) found in Andean cloud forests of southeastern Peru and Bolivia at 1,200-2,200 m. Males have rufous leg puffs instead of white. Recently split from Booted Racket-tail. Nectarivore of montane forest undergrowth.
