Cucal de Madagascar (Centropus toulou), 40–45 cm. Plumaje negro brillante con reflejos azul-verdosos; alas y dorso castaño rojizo. Cola larga. Endémico de Madagascar y las Comoras. Habita en selvas húmedas y matorrales. Se alimenta de insectos, lagartos y pequeños vertebrados. Voz profunda y resonante.

Non-parasitic; builds its own nest in low shrubs. Runs on the ground hunting large insects, lizards, and amphibians. Monotypic genus endemic to Mesoamerica.
