El porrón de Baer es una especie de pato buceador en peligro crítico de extinción que cría en el este de Siberia y el nordeste de China. El macho tiene la cabeza y el cuello de color verde-negro brillante con el ojo blanco. Su población ha colapsado en los últimos decenios hasta contar con sólo unos cientos de individuos, posiblemente debido a la pérdida de hábitat en sus cuarteles de invierno.
