The Black Baza is a small, striking raptor of South and Southeast Asia with a bold crest, black upperparts, and white underparts barred with chestnut. It inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, including forest edges and secondary growth, from the foothills of the Himalayas through Myanmar, southern China, and the Malay Peninsula. It feeds primarily on large insects, frogs, and lizards, often hunting in small groups.

El abejero europeo (unos 800 g) es un rapaz especializado en saquear nidos de avispas y abejorros, aunque también come otros invertebrados, ranas y pequeñas aves. Su cara con escamas pequeñas —en lugar de plumas— le protege de las picaduras. Migra desde Europa a Africa subsahariana. Durante la migración de otoño se concentran miles de individuos en puntos estrechos como Gibraltar. Muy variable en el plumaje. La hembra es siempre mayor que el macho.
