48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Vanuatu petrel
37–40 cm. Dark above with white forehead and underparts; black partial collar. Breeds Vanuatu; poorly known. Endangered or Critically Endangered with very few confirmed nests. Described as full species only in 1984; nocturnal at colonies; feeds on squid and fish in tropical Pacific.
