About These Birds
Pink-footed Shearwater
48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Fulmar Prion
26–28 cm. Intermediate-sized prion with a thick, fulmar-like bill; pale grey above with dark wing pattern. Breeds Bounty, Snares, and Heard islands. Resembles Broad-billed but has heavier bill base. Feeds on crustaceans; overlaps broadly with other prions at sea.
