How to Tell Them Apart
Rufous-throated Partridge
Brown above with black-and-buff streaking; throat bright rufous-orange; breast grey with rufous mottling; flanks grey streaked white; bare red eye-ring; rufous throat patch is the distinguishing feature.
Hill Partridge
Male has orange-rufous face, white-spotted black throat collar, grey breast, and chestnut flanks streaked white on dark brown back. Female has brown face with buff streaking, less vivid collar.

Rufous-throated Partridge
Una perdiz de tamaño mediano (unos 300 g) de la familia Phasianidae, con garganta rojiza y plumaje marrón intrincado. Habita los bosques subtropicales y tropicales de Asia meridional y sudoriental, desde el Himalaya hasta Indochina. Se alimenta de semillas, insectos y pequeños invertebrados en el suelo del bosque. Sus llamadas son un elemento característico del sotobosque húmedo.
Hill Partridge
Una perdiz de colina robusta (unos 280 g) propia de los bosques del Himalaya y del sur de China. Tiene un collar negro llamativo y partes superiores con vetas y barras complejas. Vive en laderas boscosas entre 1.000 y 3.000 metros de altitud, donde busca su alimento entre la hojarasca. Como muchas perdices, prefiere correr a volar cuando se alarma.
