The Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanassa violacea) is a medium-sized heron of the family Ardeidae found throughout the Americas. It is the sole member of its genus and differs structurally and behaviorally from the Black-crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax).
