Acerca de

La chova piquirroja (unos 340 g) es un córvido de alta montaña y costa atlántica que destaca por su plumaje negro azulado brillante y su largo pico curvado rojo carmín. Altamente acrobático en vuelo, realiza piruetas y deslizamientos espectaculares aprovechando las corrientes de aire en los acantilados. Se alimenta de invertebrados y semillas en pastizales de montaña. Su presencia depende del mantenimiento de los pastos mediante el pastoreo extensivo. Ha desaparecido de varios países por la intensificación agrícola.
