El fulmar boreal es un ave marina longeva que puede sobrevivir más de 40 años. Defiende su nido escupiendo, en forma de proyectil, un aceite estomacal maloliente sobre los intrusos, que puede apelmazar las plumas de los depredadores y provocar una pérdida fatal de impermeabilización. Los fulmares han expandido dramáticamente su área de cría hacia el sur en los últimos dos siglos.

Habitat & Range
Océano abierto y acantilados marinos. Cría en repisas de acantilados y laderas herbosas en costas septentrionales. Pelágico fuera de la temporada de cría.
Distribución geográfica
Océanos Atlántico Norte y Pacífico Norte. Cría desde el Ártico hasta Gran Bretaña, Francia y Nueva Inglaterra.

Peces, calamares, crustáceos, desperdicios de barcos pesqueros y zooplancton. Se alimenta capturando en la superficie y con inmersiones someras.
