El sisón de Bengala es un sisón de tamaño mediano (55-68 cm) de los pastizales altos del subcontinente indio y el sureste asiático. El macho tiene una elaborada exhibición de cortejo con plumas del cuello y la corona erizadas. Habita en pastizales de hierba alta y campos de caña con suelos húmedos. Se alimenta de insectos, semillas y brotes. Especie en peligro crítico, con la mayor parte de la población en India. La pérdida de pastizales naturales y la caza son sus principales amenazas.
