La paloma de las Chatham o parea es la paloma más grande del género Hemiphaga, con unos 55 cm. Es endémica de las Islas Chatham de Nueva Zelanda. Tiene plumaje iridiscente verde-dorado en las partes superiores y rosado en las inferiores, con un pico rojo con punta amarilla. Se alimenta de frutos y hojas de los bosques de las Chatham. Especie en peligro con una población en recuperación gracias a los esfuerzos de conservación. Vuela con el ruidoso batir de alas típico del género.
