El colibrí de pico largo de coronilla castaña es un colibrí de tamaño mediano del sur de México y América del Sur. El macho tiene partes superiores verde brillante, coronilla castaña y un gorjal rojo-rosado iridiscente. Tiene un pico notablemente largo para acceder al néctar de flores tubulares. Habita en bosques húmedos y bordes de bosque. Contribuye a la polinización de muchas plantas tropicales.
