El colibrí de pico largo de garganta azul habita en Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia y Paraguay. El macho tiene partes superiores verdes y un gorjal azul-violeta iridiscente. Se alimenta del néctar de flores de arbustos y árboles en bosques, bordes de bosque y zonas arboladas. Utiliza su pico largo para acceder al néctar de flores tubulares.
