El colibrí de pico largo de corona azul es un colibrí grande de México y América Central. El macho tiene partes superiores verde brillante, corona azul iridiscente y partes inferiores blancas con rayas. La hembra carece de la corona azul brillante. Se alimenta del néctar de flores grandes, a menudo defendiendo territorios de alimentación. Habita en bosques secos, bordes de bosque y jardines con flores. Puede visitar flores de una amplia variedad de alturas.
