El solángel de gorguera amatista es un colibrí pequeño de los bosques nublados andinos de Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia. El macho tiene partes superiores verde brillante y un gorjal amatista iridiscente característico. La hembra es más apagada con partes inferiores moteadas. Se alimenta del néctar de flores de las zonas nubladas andinas. Es uno de los varios colibríes de gorguera que habitan en los Andes.

Found in Andean cloud forests from southern Peru through Bolivia. 2,400–3,800 m elevation. Resident.
Diet & Feeding
Nectarivore foraging at Ericaceae shrubs and epiphytic orchids in cloud forest. Gleans small insects from flower petals.
