Acerca de
El tucusito copete es un pequeño colibrí de América del Sur con una cresta de dos partes roja y azul brillante, única entre los colibríes. El macho tiene la corona roja y azul con partes inferiores blancas. La hembra carece de la cresta llamativa. Habita en cerrado, sabanas y bordes de bosque de Brasil, Bolivia y Paraguay. Se alimenta de néctar y pequeños insectos. Su cresta distintiva es un carácter único de la especie.

Found in cerrado, caatinga, and dry open habitats across central Brazil from Maranhão to Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso. 300–1,100 m.

Nectarivore of open savanna and cerrado, visiting small flowers of grasses and shrubs. Catches tiny insects in hovering sallies.
