Picoespina de Herran (Chalcostigma herrani), 11–12 cm. Colibrí con cola espinosa; macho con garganta verde-dorada iridiscente y larga cola bifurcada. Habita en páramos y bordes de bosque alto-andino de Colombia y Ecuador. Se alimenta de néctar de flores de bromeliáceas y espeletias.

Nectarivore of Colombian and Venezuelan montane scrub; visits diverse small flowers. Supplements with small insects.
