Der Gänsegeier ist einer der größten flugfähigen Vögel Europas und ein unverzichtbarer Aasfresser in mediterranen Ökosystemen. Geierpopulationen gerieten durch das Tierarzneimittel Diclofenac in eine Krise, das sich bei der Aufnahme über verunreinigte Kadaver als tödlich erwies.

Der Rotschwanzbussard ist der am weitesten verbreitete und häufigste Bussard Nordamerikas. Sein durchdringender Schrei ist so unverkennbar, dass er in Film und Fernsehen oft über Aufnahmen von Weißkopfseeadlern gelegt wird.
