Kohlmeise
Die Kohlmeise ist die größte europäische Meisenart und einer der am besten erforschten Wildvögel der Welt. Studien im Wytham Wood bei Oxford verfolgen die Kohlmeisenpopulation bereits seit den 1940er-Jahren und haben enorm zur Ökologie- und Evolutionsforschung beigetragen. Berühmt wurde die einfallsreiche Kohlmeise dafür, dass sie im Großbritannien des 20. Jahrhunderts lernte, Milchflaschendeckel zu öffnen.
Rotschwanzbussard
Der Rotschwanzbussard ist der am weitesten verbreitete und häufigste Bussard Nordamerikas. Sein durchdringender Schrei ist so unverkennbar, dass er in Film und Fernsehen oft über Aufnahmen von Weißkopfseeadlern gelegt wird.
