Diese geselligen Vögel brüten in großen Kolonien an Felsklippen und können dank Thermik stundenlang segeln, ohne die Flügel zu schlagen. Geierpopulationen gerieten durch das Tierarzneimittel Diclofenac in eine Krise, das sich bei der Aufnahme über verunreinigte Kadaver als tödlich erwies.
