Die Blauracke verdankt ihren englischen Namen („Roller“) den spektakulären Roll- und Sturzflügen, die Männchen während der Balz vorführen. Der Blaue Pfau ist der Nationalvogel Indiens und einer der spektakulärsten Vögel der Welt. Die riesige, über zwei Meter lange Schleppe des Pfaus wird bei aufwendigen Balzritualen gefächert und in Vibration versetzt. Trotz ihrer Größe können Pfauen kurze Strecken fliegen und übernachten in hohen Bäumen.
