Er brütet in Kolonien und gräbt bis zu zwei Meter lange Bruthöhlen in sandige Steilufer.

Der Wanderalbatros besitzt mit bis zu 3,5 Metern die größte Flügelspannweite aller lebenden Vögel. Diese ozeanischen Nomaden können die Erde umrunden und legen mithilfe des dynamischen Segelflugs bei minimalem Flügelschlag über 120.000 km im Jahr zurück. Paare bleiben ein Leben lang zusammen und können über 60 Jahre alt werden.
