Der Raggiparadiesvogel ist der Nationalvogel von Papua-Neuguinea und ziert die Nationalflagge sowie das Staatswappen. Männchen versammeln sich an traditionellen Balzbäumen, um kunstvolle Balztänze aufzuführen, wobei sie kopfüber hängen und ihre spektakulären Flankenfedern schütteln. Alfred Russel Wallace beschrieb die Art erstmals 1873.
