How to Tell Them Apart
Strauß
Males have black body plumage with white wing and tail feathers. Females and immatures are grey-brown. Bare skin on the neck and thighs varies from pink to blue.

Der Strauß ist mit einer Höhe von bis zu 2,7 Metern und einem Gewicht von bis zu 145 kg der größte lebende Vogel der Welt. Obwohl flugunfähig, ist er der schnellste Vogel an Land und erreicht Geschwindigkeiten von bis zu 70 km/h. Straußeneier sind mit einem Gewicht von jeweils etwa 1,4 kg die größten aller lebenden Vögel.
Virginia-Uhu
Der Virginia-Uhu ist die kraftvollste und am weitesten verbreitete Eule Amerikas und trägt daher den Beinamen Tiger des Himmels. Er zählt zu den frühesten Brutvögeln und legt seine Eier oft schon im Januar, wenn noch Schnee liegt. Der Virginia-Uhu ist ein gefürchteter Jäger, der regelmäßig Beute erlegt, die bis zu dreimal so schwer ist wie er selbst.
