Der Weißkopfseeadler ist der Nationalvogel und das Symbol der Vereinigten Staaten. Diese kraftvollen Greifvögel bauen die größten Baumhorste aller Vögel, manche mit einem Gewicht von über zwei Tonnen.
Kohlmeise
Die Kohlmeise ist die größte europäische Meisenart und einer der am besten erforschten Wildvögel der Welt. Studien im Wytham Wood bei Oxford verfolgen die Kohlmeisenpopulation bereits seit den 1940er-Jahren und haben enorm zur Ökologie- und Evolutionsforschung beigetragen. Berühmt wurde die einfallsreiche Kohlmeise dafür, dass sie im Großbritannien des 20. Jahrhunderts lernte, Milchflaschendeckel zu öffnen.
