Metallic bronze-green upperparts. Males have an iridescent rose-red crown and gorget. Females have green upperparts with grey underparts and a small red gorget patch.

Der Annakolibri ist der häufigste Kolibri entlang der Pazifikküste und eine von nur drei Kolibriarten, die ganzjährig in den USA verweilen. Männchen zeigen spektakuläre Sturzflüge aus 40 Metern Höhe und fangen sich mit einem lauten, von den Schwanzfedern erzeugten Zwitschern ab. Mandschurenstorch
Der Mandschurenstorch ist eine der am stärksten gefährdeten Storchenarten; in freier Wildbahn leben noch weniger als 3.000 Individuen. Einst war er in ganz Ostasien weit verbreitet, ging jedoch durch die Trockenlegung von Feuchtgebieten und den Einsatz von Pestiziden dramatisch zurück. Wiederansiedlungsprogramme in Japan und Korea konnten bemerkenswerte Erfolge erzielen.
