Annakolibri

Der Annakolibri ist der häufigste Kolibri entlang der Pazifikküste und eine von nur drei Kolibriarten, die ganzjährig in den USA verweilen. Männchen zeigen spektakuläre Sturzflüge aus 40 Metern Höhe und fangen sich mit einem lauten, von den Schwanzfedern erzeugten Zwitschern ab. Nachts kann ihre Körpertemperatur nahezu auf Umgebungstemperatur absinken, um Energie zu sparen.

A small hummingbird (10-11 cm) endemic to a tiny area on the western slope of the Colombian Andes at 2,600-2,900 m. Males have an iridescent gorget and white leg puffs. Described in 2007. Critically Endangered due to extremely restricted range. Nectarivore of cloud forest.
