Die Wanderdrossel gilt in weiten Teilen Nordamerikas als Vorbote des Frühlings. Trotz ihres englischen Namens ist sie eine echte Drossel und mit dem europäischen Rotkehlchen nicht verwandt. Wanderdrosseln ziehen zwei bis drei Bruten pro Jahr auf und gehören zu den ersten Vögeln, die im morgendlichen Vogelchor singen.
Gänsegeier
Der Gänsegeier ist einer der größten flugfähigen Vögel Europas und ein unverzichtbarer Aasfresser in mediterranen Ökosystemen. Diese geselligen Vögel brüten in großen Kolonien an Felsklippen und können dank Thermik stundenlang segeln, ohne die Flügel zu schlagen. Geierpopulationen gerieten durch das Tierarzneimittel Diclofenac in eine Krise, das sich bei der Aufnahme über verunreinigte Kadaver als tödlich erwies.
